First week of autumn, hope to see you at the Victor Harbor Farmers Market Sat 8-12.30pm

First week of autumn, but I think summer is still very much with us.

Just cool enough tomorrow to scrape in for Chocolique to be with us, which is excellent.

The Basket Range Baker will be back with us, croissants, yumm.

Unique Cheeses will also be there again, then Barb is having a two week break, so stock up.

We’ll also have Gina’s Kitchen & Field Berries, Health by Flora, Virgara’s Garden, Calico Cakes, Jelly.PortElliot including Fleurieu Milk Company products, H Kouzina Mas, Hey Bagels, VICTORFISH, Studio Goolwa, Healing Harvest Farm, Garden candy and of course, Con and Harry Fresh Fruit on their last day.

Our musician will be Alex de Rosa.

8.00am till 12.30pm, a sad/happy morning, as we bid Con and Harry goodbye, and wish them both long and happy retirements.

Sadly, this Saturday will be Con and Harry’s last day at the VH Farmers Market.

It’s nearly here. This Saturday will be Con and Harry’s last day at our market.

“The Boys” have become an institution at Victor Harbor, having sold their Riverland produce here since 2008.

I know many of you want to say goodbye, we’re going to have a presentation to Con and Harry on Saturday morning between 9.30am and 10.30am, hopefully close to 10.00am. In front of the Rotunda, just a matter of organising everyone. De and Dino are on the case.

It’s going to be a very busy last morning for Con and Harry Fresh Fruit, I’m sure.

Kate and Dave, Hey Bagels will be back with us tomorrow, ready and refreshed!

Kate and Dave, Hey Bagels will be back with us tomorrow, ready and refreshed from their holiday.

So bagels again, whoo hooo.

And their sourdough loaves, 100% rye, 100% spelt and 100% whole wheat.

No Basket Range Baker and Kimchi Club. Circumstances beyond their control.

We will have Anna’s Homestyle Baking, Unique Cheeses, Gina’s Kitchen & Field Berries, Virgara’s Garden, Health by Flora, Jelly PortElliot including Fleurieu Milk Company products, Calico Cakes, H Kouzina Mas, Chocolique, Healing Harvest Farm, VICTORFISH, Garden candy and start saying goodbye to Con and Harry Fresh Fruit.

My goodness it’s a wonderful thing that the cool change will be through in time, and we’re not trying to have a market in 39-40C heat! Stallholders like Kate from Chocolique just wouldn’t be able to come, and we’d all be melting puddles into the brick paving.

Our musician will be Dean Bird.

8.00am till 12.30pm, a great morning.

They were here from the start in 2008! Sat, March 4th will be Con & Harry’s last VH market.

Well it had to happen. They were there in December 2008 when the market first opened. Now, just over 14 years later, they are leaving us for good. Saturday, March the 4th will be Con and Harry’s last market with us.

Just look at those two young fellas from those early days. Time has flown. Harry needs to be a full time carer for his wife. Time to retire.

And boy will we miss them. Not just their fantastic produce, that goes without saying, but those huge smiles, beautiful personalities.

So two more weeks. Then we’ll only have four of our original market stallholders left. But we have built a vibrant market, and when Con and Harry Fresh Fruit do finish on the Fourth of March we’ll shed some tears (probably a lot), and wish them both a long, healthy retirement.

Join us at the market on this beautiful morning & meet Jodie, George’s Folly Wines.

Beautiful morning at the market. This is Jodie, from George’s Folly Wines. Have a chat, even if it’s a tad early for you to taste? I’m sure she has something light that will work well at this time. She’ll be a regular on the third Saturday of the month.

Garry Searle is setting the scene with his music.

Felicity said Cara at Basket Range Baker has a few loaves of a new style they are trying, part croissant loaf. Sounds interesting.

Does Kate at Chocolique have any heart chocolates left from Valentines Day? Kate if you do you could perhaps mention to John I know that one would make me feel better.

Such a beautiful morning.

Basket Range Baker and Francesco, Virgara’s Garden will be at the VHFM tomorrow!

Basket Range Baker will have these delicious pane tomorrow, sourdough chocolate croissants. As well as all their other sourdough sweet treats, and amazing bread. Yum.

And Francesco, Virgara’s Garden has been picking sweetcorn today, ready for tomorrow’s market.

Missing tomorrow, Hey Bagels, Anna’s Homestyle Baking, Calico Cakes and H Kouzina Mas.

With us will be Gina’s Kitchen & Field Berries, Jelly.PortElliot, including Fleurieu Milk Company products, Health by Flora, Chocolique, Healing Harvest Farm, Studio Goolwa, VICTORFISH, Garden candy, Con and Harry Fresh Fruit, Unique Cheeses and George’s Folly Wines.

Our musician will be the always popular Garry Searle.

Still on the sick list, had hoped to be there.

8.00am to 12.30pm, should be a great morning.

Gina’s Kitchen & Field Berries sweet, crunchy red onions harvested & bunched for Sat

Sweet, crunchy red onions, being harvested and bunched today by Matt and Ian, ready for sale on Saturday at Gina’s Kitchen & Field Berries.

Delicious when they are so fresh, a simple salad of sliced tomato, from Francesco at Virgara’s Garden, layered with sliced red onion. Add some extra oomph with a crumbling of Woodside Persian feta buffalo cheese from Barb and Bianca, Unique Cheeses, they are back with us this Saturday.

John makes a great salad with Cos lettuce, or baby spinach, but you could experiment with any of the lettuces at Virgara’s Garden and Con and Harry Fresh Fruit. Thinly sliced red onion, these will be perfect, avocado, Con and Harry’s of course, and Mango. It doesn’t need a dressing, the mango tossed through well is enough. Be generous with the avocado and mango. Add some left over BBQ chicken, the breast is really good sliced thinly, and you have a meal, not just a side salad.

Easy and quick in this hot weather, and sooo tasty.

Mouthwatering photos from Bona of H Kouzina Mas, her freshly baked Ricotta Gnocchi!

Bona from H Kouzina Mas sent me these mouthwatering photos of her freshly baked Ricotta gnocchi at the very moment I was looking for inspiration for today’s post. Spooky!

She and Angie will also have Moussaka, traditional or vegetarian and Pastitsio bake. And packs of Zucchini fritters and meatballs, and their various dips, all gluten free, such a great bonus.

And of course they will have their usual range of delectable Greek cakes and other sweets. That corner of the market is always so happy, with Bona and Angie on one side and Con and Harry Fresh Fruit opposite, especially when Dino, working for Con and Harry gets going.

Second Saturday of the month, so Shawn, Kangaroo Island Living Honey will be with us, and Minka, Kimchi Club, as mentioned earlier in the week. And back after missing a few weeks, Anna’s Homestyle Baking.

Having the first week off of a two week break, Hey Bagels, so no Bagels, a blow for many! Unique Cheeses are also still away, they’ll be back with us next week.

With us will be Health by Flora, Virgara’s Garden, Gina’s Kitchen & Field Berries, Chocolique, Jelly.PortElliot, including Fleurieu Milk Company products, Calico Cakes, VICTORFISH, Studio Goolwa, Healing Harvest Farm, Garden candy and Basket Range Baker.

Our musician will be Maggie O’Moore, lovely to have her back again.

I am missing being at the market, hopefully I’ll be back soon.

8.00am till 12.30pm, it will be a good market.

Kimchi Club will be at the market on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month.

Minka will be with us this Saturday, from this month Kimchi Club will be coming to our market on the second and fourth Saturday of every month.

More opportunities to talk to Minka about her fermented Kimchi and other products, and how they work to help your digestive system.

Between Kimchi Club and Health by Flora it’s an area we have you very well covered.

I shall shall miss catching up with Minka, another three day stay in hospital last week set me back, I’m really missing my Saturday morings at the market. The weather is looking like another cool morning.

The stone fruit Con & Harry Fresh Fruit are bringing to the market is just so tasty!

The stone fruit Con and Harry Fresh Fruit are bringing to the market at the moment is just so tasty and juicy. I stand over the sink in the kitchen eating a nectarine, the juice just drips off my fingers. And so sweet.

A cool and breezy morning, plenty of great produce here. Healing Harvest Farm is back, so eggs again.

Francesco’s veg at Virgara’s Garden looks stunning as ever, that will go quickly.

Alex de Rosa will set up soon for music.

8.00am till 12.30pm.
